Hello, friends! I am super excited to finally share a special project with you that I have been working on for quite a while!
As you may remember, my sister recently had twin boys – my new nephews – named Nash and Ace. I wanted to make something special for my sister and the boys; so, when she asked me for help making a couple mobiles for their cribs, I jumped at the chance! The theme for the nursery is whales, so after looking over some whale and ocean-themed mobiles my sister found on the internet, I got to work.
The hardest part for me was actually remembering to “double the recipe” or make sure to cut 2 of everything because there are two babies and that means two cribs and two mobiles! I had a ton of fun hand-stitching everything together, though, as embroidery is one of my favorite hobbies (I’ve also made an embroidered sleep mask and a pair of butterfly wings). There’s something so zen about making all those perfect little stitches. Here’s the final result:
The nursery is just so cute, and isn’t the giant whale mural amazing?? My sister’s husband (a.k.a. my brother-in-law) drew and painted it by hand! Here are a couple shots of my adorable nephews checking out their new mobiles:
They’re just over 10 weeks old and growing so fast! I always love making things by hand, but it is even more special to me when I get to make something for someone I love, and I absolutely love my little nephews!
As always, thanks for reading! Kristi :)
